The Facility

The Role
The Registrar -General Medicine works under direction and supervision to perform the initial assessment of the patient in the Medical Department and co-ordinate and facilitate diagnosis, management and early appropriate patient management. The trainee will manage a wide range of clinical presentations in adults, children and neonates and provide medical care, consistent with level of experience to patients presenting to the General Medicine Department under the supervision of more senior medical staff. The General Medicine Advanced Trainee is expected to adopt a progressively more independent approach to patient management according to their experience, under the guidance of, and at the discretion of the Attending Medical Officer (AMO).
Advanced training in General Medicine is undertaken in a variety of roles, to meet training requirements of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. These include terms in general medicine, Hospital-in-the Home, and subspecialty rotations. Advanced trainees may also be seconded to Calvary Hospital, Bruce for an acute medicine term.
Position Requirements
- Be registered or Eligible for Registration with AHPRA
- Successful in FRACP part 1 (Written and Clinical) Examinations
- Experience in medical research, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate
- Registration with RACP as Advanced Trainee or eligible to apply
